A Colorado boy and a Wisconsin girl, who made her way to Colorado (via Hawaii) in 1983. They met on a happy October day at Denver Divers in 1993. DINKs (Double Income No Kids!) and happy travelers for a few years thereafter. Married in 1996, and then all-in on the family life with the arrival of Madeline Jane in 1998, and Emily Erin in 2000. Full of gratitude to have arrived at a time when our first born is marrying her high school sweetheart, and all- around GREAT guy Ben Haselden. As we have watched them, loved them, and quietly reveled in their company, we have also seen their sustained affection and respect for one another mature and deepen.


Maddie has always had a determined nature, fearless energy, sharp intelligence and undeniable emotional power. Although hard to believe sometimes…. there is also soft and vulnerable kindness underneath it all, for those with a discerning eye. She rewards a patient, understanding listener with determined friendship and loyalty. A fierce and forthright defender of those
she loves, and she is prepared to speak her mind accordingly.


Ben is a study in forbearance and has a spontaneous and natural love of many of the simple blessings in life: good food, good friends, and shared experiences building community. A studied sports fan, who loves its competitive tension and emotional range, as well as always there for a helping hand, and a good and
thoughtful listener.


Both have been well, and fully, loved by many around them –which is a wonderful foundation for a marriage. Each can stand on their own, individually, as well as stand together to engage the oncoming experience of life together in a marriage.


She is very fortunate to have Bens love and patient, thoughtful, feedback and partnership. He is very fortunate to have Maddie’s love and intelligence and emotional power. They are fortunate in each other – as are we also in them.

A Colorado boy and an older wiser Colorado girl meet circa 1990, at Stapleton Airport via an airport drop off for a Spring Break trip. Uncle Roger is basically to blame! Fast forward to 1993 and we have our first post college soirée at Byron’s parents house for a Halloween Party. A date the following weekend, was the beginning of us! Married November 4, 1995. Life moves pretty fast for the Haselden Family and it’s no different for us! Benjamin Byron made his appearance February 9, 1998 and Logan James shortly after on January 14, 1999. We loved every minute of our crazy busy life together. It feels like Maddie has been apart of our family from the beginning. Who would’ve thought that a Halloween Party at our house and a Sadie Hawkins dance, would be the beginning of their love story. Ben was a quiet guy, and as I’ve told Maddie she helped us get to know Ben better. Maddie is the perfect partner for Ben. We are so blessed by these two individuals. They are a beautiful strong couple and have grown together into the love we see today. Advice for the couple is simple- keep loving each other and being grateful for your partnership. Remember to respect each other. And always know that your families are here to love and support each of you as you continue life’s journey together!
